A traditionally styled narrowboat from the highly regarded builder, Charlie Fox, based in March, Cambridgeshire. Recognisable by their distinctive stempost and quality fit-out in panelled mahogany, Kingfisher (originally Kingfisher Too) is boat number 71 and has had only two private owners since it was built for exhibition at the National Waterways Festival at Peterborough in August 1993. Features include a single poster double bed, dining table with hidden drinks storage, a very effective bow thruster, and a space-effective, traditional interior layout.

Construction
Original steel plate - 10mm base / 6mm hull sides / 3mm cabin sides and roof. Head linings in varnished tongue and groove panelling, white laminate-faced ply cabin side linings, varnished ply hull side linings, bulkheads in mahogany faced ply. Insulation is rockwool and under-floor ballast is poured concrete. Stainless steel framed louvre windows, brass portholes, glazed mahogany double bow doors, timber aft doors, steel sliding hatch, self-draining forepeak with bench seats, water tank and LPG bow locker. Aft deck with non-slip paint. The exterior green paintwork was renewed in May 2024. Hull blacked every 4 years in current ownership, last done and 6 new anodes fitted in November 2023.

Accommodation
A pair of mahogany, glazed forward doors lead to-:
Saloon (13'7") –  port side locker for storage, built-in seating/single berths (6'3" x 2') on either side with drawer storage beneath.
Dinette (incl.) - free-standing mahogany folding table with hidden drinks storage locker, fold-up chairs.
Galley (8'1") – Fitted mahogany base units on both sides with cupboards, drawers, laminate work surfaces, stainless steel sink and drainer with a mixer tap, LPG oven and grill, LPG hob, under-counter 3-way fridge, cupboard containing Ellis LPG boiler.
Starboard side corridor to-:
WC compartment (4'10") - shower cubicle with curtain, built-in corner vanity unit with wash basin, hot and cold taps, grey water sump beneath with waste pump, pump-out toilet with holding tank beneath.
Main (aft) cabin (7'11") – a built-in, mahogany single poster double bed to port (6'4" x 4') with drawer and cupboard storage beneath, windows on both sides.
Companion way door leads to the engine room with steps to the aft deck.

Engine
Ford XLD 1.6 litre (36hp) 4 cylinder diesel engine coupled to a conventional shaft drive via a PRM150D3 3:1 ratio gearbox and flexible Fenner coupling. Keel cooling. Single lever engine control, temperature, voltage and RPM gauges, oil pressure, charging and temperature warning lights. Engine cut-out safety switch. Engine serviced and maintained by the owner. Gearbox, bearings and coupling replaced a few years ago.

2 x 13kg LPG bottles (de-mountable deck hoist for lifting gas bottles to/from locker), radiators (plumbed to Ellis LPG boiler), hot water calorifier tank (22 gallons / 100 litres approx.) heated by Ellis boiler, engine and immersion heater, Mansfield Traveler pump-out toilet, Techimpex LPG 4 ring hob, Prima oven and grill, Dometic 3-way fridge (LPG connected), CO alarm, fire extinguishers and blanket, mooring ropes, traditional rope fenders.

Electrics
12v - 1 x engine battery (replaced 2024), 2 x leisure batteries, 1 x bow thruster battery, fused switch panel, cabin lighting, plug sockets, domestic water pump, electric bilge pump, shower and wash basin sump and waste pump, horn, tunnel light, Omnimax TV aerial with signal booster, stereo radio/cassette player with cabin speakers.
230v - shore power connection, RCD protection, immersion heater, plug sockets.
